Abia North: Natural Disasters Threatening Road Infrastructures, Stability, Others — Orji Kalu
The lawmaker representing Abia North Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, has said that natural disasters have caused many problems for Abia North Senatorial District, Abia State and the country at large.
Addressing ward Chairmen of OUK Movement at his Camp Neya home in Igbere, Bende Local Government Area on Tuesday, the former Abia State Governor said that events like the menace of erosion, climate change and flooding have put a strain on a few of the road infrastructures he attracted to the zone.
A recent photo trending on social media showed a washed-out portion of the Ugwueke road as a result of flooding.
The photo was accompanied by claims that the road was poorly constructed and commissioned by Senator Orji Uzor Kalu— who facilitated the road project.
In his reaction, he said: “Heavy rainfall around this month destroyed the radio station I have here in Igbere; if you go behind my house, the erosion menace there is terrible. We have natural disasters like flooding, erosion and climate change ravaging Abia North Senatorial District, Abia State and Nigeria at large. It has caused many problems for us—including the Ugwueke road and many others.
“The level of natural disasters that is happening in Abia North and Nigeria is causing havoc to some of the things that we are doing. Our people should appreciate what we are doing for them. The honest truth is that others are not doing what we are doing. I have worked very hard to bring down projects to Abia North Senatorial District. It is because I love my people, that is why I have concentrated on the development of Abia North Senatorial District.”
He appealed to his supporters to continue to support the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), is working very hard to make life easier for all.
“I know things are very tough. It is not easy anywhere, but the president is working very hard to make things easy for all. It is time to unite and support the president to move Nigeria forward for the good all,” he said.
