…describes him as the pride of Abia North
Ahead of the 2027 senatorial election, a coalition of 55 respected traditional rulers, legal practitioners, clergy, and prominent stakeholders from Abia North Senatorial District have thrown their weight behind Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, declaring that no one will be allowed to contest against him.
The leaders, in a joint statement signed by Bishop Silas Eke, Rev. Kalu Ukpai Ota, Barr. ESV Olekanma, Chief Nnanna Ukaegbu, Pastor Caleb Kalu Awa, and Igwe Otis, among others, described Kalu as the pride of Abia North and insisted he must return to the Senate unopposed in 2027.
“We have taken a firm position as elders and stakeholders. No one in Abia North should contest against Senator Orji Uzor Kalu. He has earned the right to continue,” the leaders declared.
“Abia North is now the envy of other senatorial districts because of Senator Kalu’s massive developmental strides, bold legislative interventions, and consistent empowerment of the people. We will not trade this kind of leadership for politics.”
The group further noted that Kalu’s presence in the Senate has brought unprecedented attention to Abia North, with projects spread across communities and renewed hope among the people.
“His track record speaks for itself. From road infrastructure to youth empowerment, from school renovations to education materials, Senator Kalu has touched every part of our district,” they stated.
“We forbid any form of political distraction. Our people deserve continuity and stability. We have spoken with one voice, Kalu will run unopposed.”
Describing him as “a bridge-builder, voice of the people, and defender of the weak,” the leaders emphasised that their declaration goes beyond politics, it reflects the collective will of the people.
“Senator Kalu has restored dignity to Abia North. He is the pride of our people. We owe him our continued support, and we call on all well-meaning sons and daughters of Abia North to join hands in ensuring his re-election,” the statement added.
