The Chief Executive Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, yesterday, met with the FCT minister (Nyesom Wike) at a meeting in Abuja with his counterpart (Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State) to sought reconciliation and apologised for previous misunderstanding between them.
According to a reliable news source from Vanguard, It was revealed that the govenor’s meeting with the FCT minister was to secure his support for Asue Ighodalo’s governorship bid for to be the party flagbearer. Godwin Obaseki’s preferred Candidate is to face other strong constesters in the Peoples Democratic Party with a former member of the House of Representatives, Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama, Dan Orbih who is Wike’s ally.
The Commissioner for Communication and Orientation to the Edo State Governor has reacted to the meeting between his principal and FCT minister, said if it was true that he see nothing wrong in the attempt to carry everybody along.
However, Ighodalo has expressed confidence in winning the party’s ticket, going into the primaries against Ogbeide-Ihama and Shaibu is viewed in Obaseki’s camp as a delicate game.
Ighodalo would be willing to pick Ogbeide-Ihama as his running mate, according to the deal offered by Obaseki.
Wike reportedly told him point-blank that he would not have any dealings with him as he was not known to have kept faith with anyone that assisted him in the past.
