The technical assistant (New Media) to the Vice president, Mr Phillip Obin had expressed his appreciations to the chief whip and the senator representing Abia North, Senate Orji Uzor Kalu for his leadership role and support on him over the years.
Taking to his verified facebook page, Mr Phillip Obin, expressed his gratitude to Orji Uzor Kalu, describing him as a detribalized Nigeria leader every politicians should emulate.
He elaborated on how Senator Orji Kalu explained to his constituency on why he was appointed a legislative aide before securing his present appointment as The technical assistant (New Media) to the Vice president, stating that his appointment to serve as a legislative aide to the chief whip was born out of his loyalty and commitment.
He thanked the chief whip, Senator Orji Kalu for not putting sentiments before competency, in his words.
“I want to seize this opportunity to say a very BIG THANK YOU to my Boss, Senator (Dr.) Orji Uzor Kalu, former Governor of Abia state for his support over the years.
“Before my appointment as Technical Assistant (New Media), Office of the Vice President, Senator Kalu already appointed me a legislative aide in his capacity as a principal officer (Chief Whip) at the Nigerian Senate.
“I had to resign the appointed for the ‘presidential offer’, after returning to him for deliberation on the new offer. He gladly encouraged me to take the presidential offer, while assuring me of his continuous support.
“A detribalised Nigerian leader, Senator Orji Kalu is one politician most other politicians should learn from. I am not his constituent or an indigene of Abia state, yet he went ahead to appoint me, even amidst protests by his constituents not to give out their slots to an outside.
“Senator Kalu was able to defeat their argument, though, as he subtly explained to his people that he was appointing me based on my demonstration of loyalty, capacity and competence in what I do – digital media, having followed closely and known me for years.
“He went ahead to explain to his constituents that one of the things that kept us where we are today as nation is because we bring in sentiments into everything, including very critical and sensitive things.
“He concluded that we must learn to engage people based on competence, experience and character and not just because they belong to our family, state, tribe or religion.
“I am also excited that within the few days I worked for him, I was able to train his digital media team, as well as setting up websites and other social media channels for him.
“I would forever remain indebted and grateful for the love and support enjoyed from Senator Kalu, even as I pledge to continue supporting him and his media team, too.
“May God continue to guide and protect you, Senator (Dr.) Orji Uzor Kalu, Amen!” He concluded.
Mr Phillip is currently the Technical Assistant (New Media), Office of the Vice President, Presidential Villa, Abuja FCT.
