ABIA 2027: Gov Otti Desperate To Join APC After Sensing Embarrassing Defeat— APC Chieftain A member of Renewed Hope Partners in Abia State, Hon. Solomon Nwokeukwu, has accused Governor Alex Otti of desperation to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) after, according to him, sensing an imminent defeat in the 2027 general election.
Nwokeukwu said the governor had lost credibility and public trust, recalling that Otti once vowed never to join the APC but is now “running from pillar to post” in a bid to secure entry into the party.
He alleged that while Otti’s supporters were attacking the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, the governor was quietly lobbying party leaders in Lagos and the Presidency to facilitate his defection.
He maintained that even if the governor succeeds in joining the APC, it would not guarantee a ticket, stressing that the party would still conduct a governorship primary to determine its candidate in Abia State.
The Renewed Hope Partners member also launched a scathing attack on the administration, accusing it of presiding over what he described as “a government of propaganda, lies, and deceit,” adding that the gap between official claims and realities on the ground continues to widen.
According to him, the administration has little to show for the billions it claimed to have spent on capital projects since he was elected in 2023. Instead, he alleged that residents are being offered “façades and photo opportunities” rather than tangible progress.
“With that kind of money, Abia should be witnessing landmark projects. But what we see are old buildings repainted and paraded as new health centres, inflated road contracts, and ICT training being passed off as capital expenditure,” he said.
He cautioned that Otti risks being remembered as a one-term governor, alleging that the administration spends as much as ₦4 billion to construct a kilometre of road. “In the end, Otti is proving worse than the politicians he once condemned for corruption and waste,” he said.
