Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Uchendu, Ph.D, a seasoned legislator and respected voice in Nigerian politics, has issued a powerful advisory to communities, particularly within Abia North, urging them to decisively reject all non-performing political office holders, whether present or former.
In his statement, Dr. Uchendu emphasized that leadership is not a title, but a responsibility with measurable outcomes. Any individual who has occupied public office, whether in the past or currently, and failed to positively impact the lives of the people, does not deserve another opportunity,he declared. The days of political recycling must come to an end. We cannot reward incompetence with renewed mandates.
He further stated that communities must assess candidates not by what they promise, but by what they have done. A man who held power and brought nothing to his people will not suddenly become effective if given another chance. Leadership is about performance, not mere presence.
Dr. Uchendu proudly cited Senator Orji Uzor Kalu as an exception,an example of what genuine representation looks like. Senator Kalu’s signature projects are visible across almost every community in Abia North, roads, schools, water. These are not promises, they are results.
He urged the people to take this advice seriously, stressing that political sentiment must be replaced with critical evaluation. Let us no longer be deceived by sweet words and empty gestures. Whether past or present, if a leader did not perform, he is not fit to return.
In conclusion, Dr. Uchendu warned,The future belongs to the wise. Let us not mortgage it to those who have already proven they cannot deliver.
