The former Governor of Abia state and the Senator representing Abia North Senatorial zone, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu has bagged an award of Jarumin Gusau, meaning tireless helper of Gusau given to him by the Emir of Gusau, His Royal Highness Ibrahim Bello.
The award was given to him at Gusau the state capital during the inauguration of the newly constructed and equipped Ministry of women affairs and foundation laying ceremony for women training center.
In his words, the executive Governor of Zamfara state Dr Dauda Lawal expressed joy for receiving Senator Orji Uzor Kalu in the state describing him as his friend and the friend of entire Zamfara state.
“Our presence here is not just unveiling a physical structure and starting another but it is reaffirming our administration’s unwavering commitment to institutional renewal , social development and inclusive governance. It is about demonstrating the dignity we have for the women, children and vulnerable as the center of the government’s philosophy”, Governor Lawal said.
Before now, the ministry operated from a single bungalow structure which was inadequate in size and practically unbefitting for the critical responsibility and service the ministry delivers.
Through visionary planning and responsive execution, we have transformed that bungalow Into a modern multifunctional storey building which was commissioned by Senator Orji Uzor Kalu.
The befitting structure reflects the importance of the ministry’s mandate in our rescue and development agenda. This impressive transformation executed by Jide integrated service limited was completed within the stipulated contract period of 12 months in strict adherence to the procurement laws and financial regulations. We also ensure that the interior and the exterior furnishing reflect good quality, durability and functionality.
Governor Lawal commended the commissioner, permanent secretary and all the staff of the ministry for their patience during the construction period, and urged them to use the edifice judiciously as a transformation, innovation center and accountability platform for policy design , implementation and inter-agency collaboration to strengthen the ministry’s social capacity for executing statutory responsibilities.
Speaking, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu urged Governor Lawal to maintain a good communication link with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu regardless of any political party differences while adopting similar developmental and economic strategies.
He also urged Governor Lawal to ensure peace and compatibility with all his brothers at the national level, focusing on economic growth and sustainability of the state in order to make a better Zamfara.
The Senator reiterated by giving a friendly quote to Governor Lawal,
” If you play partisan politics, you loose, but if you play economic politics that brings growth and equitable development, you gain”, he said.
